Science Camp vs. Outdoor Science School
Hmmmm, we keep referring to it as "Science Camp", but you'll really be attending Outdoor Science School. That's why we'll be gone during the school week!
You can read more about the specific activities under the "Science Camp Activities" tab, but during the week you'll be immersed in science, nature, and physical activity. We will be LEARNING while at Three Oaks Outdoor Science School.
During the week all students will receive a Field Journal and will be expected to take notes, respond to the questions, and complete the diagrams in the Field Journal. Field Journals will be turned in to the teachers at the end of Science Camp, checked off, and then returned to the student.
What will I wear? What will I bring?
For a complete packing list, you can click on the document here at the bottom. But I think you'll want to bring a comfortable pair of jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. It will be warm during the days, but chilly in the mornings and cold at night. You'll also want to have comfortable shoes that you can wear to go hiking on trails, up hills, over rocks, around trees. You will not be walking on paved roads, and your shoes will probably get dirty, so keep that in mind.
What's most important, is that you'll be out in NATURE. Therefore, no iPods, phones, or other hand-held electronics. A deck of playing cards might be perfect!
Sleeping Arrangements:
In early September, the teachers will post the dorm sign-ups. There are about 14 students per dorm. Students can choose their roommates, but Camp Coordinators may change the roommates as necessary.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask Ms. Ridgeway!
